The Kern County General Assistance (GA) Program provides financial assistance to residents of Kern County who have no other means of support. Single adults and couples without minor children may be eligible. The General Assistance program provides minimal assistance with rent, utilities, transportation and personal needs.

General Assistance applicants may also be eligible for CalFresh and/or Medi-Cal. If you have a long-term disability, you may be eligible for Supplemental Security Income (SSI). The Kern County Department of Human Services has a Disability Advocate program to assist GA applicants with the SSI process.
